From now on until Halloween, I will be writing up recommendations of the week of what I think is some of the best movies I've seen during each week. This week....


CAESAR AND OTTO'S SUMMER CAMP MASSACRE





I have been waiting with baited breath for the release of this movie and it's finally here. I remember seeing the trailer courtesy of Alternative Cinema and kept waiting for a long time for it to come out...however, thanks Brain Damage Films, you can all finally check it out.

After a run-in with a mental patient, Caesar and his brother Otto are running away from the law and looking for work...until they get hired at a summer camp. However, there are strange things going on at this summer camp including murder. It's up to Caesar and Otto to find out what's going on, if they don't die first from stupidity.

I just love horror comedies and when it comes to being a slasher as a bonus, then I am all for it. Slashers are my favorite in the horror genre and this movie just ruled so much.

It's not overly gory and that was cool to me because it didn't need to rely on all the gore, the comedy was the best part, especially Dave Campfield as Caesar....he was the funniest part of the whole movie. I was also thrilled that Felissa Rose starred in it, she kinda reminded me of her character in Sleepaway Camp and I feel like maybe they were going for that.

Brinke Stevens and Joe Estevez also has small cameos and I was so happy about that. They are always a welcome sight to any movie.

The DVD, which was released on October 4th, is filled with extras including Two Director Commentaries, Cast and Crew Commentary, Behind the Massacre, 25 Minutes with Joe Estevez, Alternate and Deleted Scenes, Trailer Vault, Caesar & Otto's Deadly Xmas Preview, 4 Easter Eggs, 60 Second Making Of, Bonus Short Film: Caesar & Otto Meets Dracula's Lawyer.

Those were the best times and those great memories were brought back with Zombarella's House of Whorrors. Crowley Review

Starring: Simon Callow, Kal Weber, Lucy Kudden, Jud Charlton, Paul McDowell, John Shrapnel Director: Julian Doyle Originally titled Chemical Wedding, Crowley (the US title) tells the tale of Neo-Pagan Aleister Crowley, known as "The Wickedest Man in the World", who died in 1947. 50 years after his death, Cambridge scholar Professor Oliver Haddo enters a Virtual Reality Machine, but things go awry and he becomes possessed by the spirit of Crowley. Crowley proceeds to begin his occult practices all over again, in search for a "scarlet bride" to marry and increase his powers. I really didn't know what to expect, but this was one of the most kick ass movies I've seen in a long time. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson co-wrote this little tale and I was surprised. You have already seen the great artwork that Mary did for The Trail of Satan and she will also be doing the artwork for all future projects.  Mitch will be a major contributor.
